Which shoe polish is good for shoe life? wax or silicon?
Silicon gets into the leather, wax waterproofs from the surface. In cold climates the silicones and greases will keep the leather alive longer, but in warmer climates wax works as well and keeps water from wetting the leather by plugging it and sealing it.
Slilcones and Dubbin never shine and they attract dust, only wax gives the shine.

Reply:I would say both.
Use the silicone for the first time, before ths shoes are worn and the pores are open. It waterproofs.
After dry, add the wax shine and use that periodically to maintain a shine.
