It depends on the black shoe polish. I use Lincoln Stain polish, and it very definately won%26#039;t work for brown shoes. If you are using a sealant or a non-coloring polish, then yes, you may be able to use black on a brown shoe. Otherwise, your brown shoes will end up getting darker. Possibly much darker, maybe even black...
