Given all the shoes and toenail polish you girls buy, why is it creepy to compliment, mention your feet?

This is one of those ridiculous double standards a thinker like me has pondered. Girls love pedicures. They love shoes. They love doing each others nails... I think, right? That's what you girls do at sleepovers? And last time I checked they love compliments.

But if I ever dared to say hey, that shade of toenail polish really brings out your eyes (ok, not quite like that but you know what I'm saying), you'd probably get weirded out. You'd probably say something like "I hate feet" which I've heard girls say at least 26 times. And you'd probably tell your friends I'm a creep for noticing.

Am I wrong? And if I'm not, then what's all that effort for? That's probably one of the few compliments that hasn't been abused by guys working their "game".

Or is this another one of those things, like "oh, all girls love nice guys." Well that's cool but why are you dating that angry meathead then? (I have another question coming soon about that)

I'd love to hear your input, thanks.

Given all the shoes and toenail polish you girls buy, why is it creepy to compliment, mention your feet?
Well it always depends on the girl. I would take it as a compliment, I mean hey, all of us girls work so hard on our nails and toe nails (whether we do them ourselves or not) we still would like a compliment about it.

Personally I wouldn't get weirded out, but again, it all depends on the girl. And, as far as the other questions goes, I think that every girl loves a good guy, but every girl likes a bad guy sometimes.

Good guys are nice, sweet, and caring. While bad guys will bring out the adventurous side in us. So both can be nice, but it's hard to find both in a man.
Reply:I never thought of this before. Good observation!

Yeah, I think a lot of girls would think that you were somehow feet obsessed or gay or something.

I think that girls get pedicures and put on toenail polish more for themselves, to make themselves feel pretty, than they do it for men to be attracted to. That's the difference.

Fingernails are another matter. Girls do their fingernails for guys to get turned on by them. Not the same as why they do their toenails at all.
Reply:Haha. I wouldn't get weirded out if a guy gave me that compliment. I would think it was pretty funny and probably ask him why the weird question, but I would thank him all the same. It's just a cute (though, weird) compliment. A better one might be, "That nail polish really compliments your skin color."

My boyfriend has told me that my feet were "really sexy." I thought that was a nice compliment, because not alot of guys take the time out to look at your feet, when there's more (AHEM) interesting things to look at...

I asked him how could my FEET be sexy, and he was like, they just are. Haha. A compliment is a compliment. At least I know he likes my feet. =) Maybe I'll wear flip-flops more.

And all girls DON'T love nice guys. Some girls like bad guys. It depends on the girl. I, for one, do like nice guys...after two horrible, jerk boyfriends, the third time is a charm...he's the most wonderful guy I've ever met, and we plan on staying together forever.

Some girls date mean guys hoping that they'll have a change of heart and turn nice. They try to change them, not realizing that a person can only change if they want to change.
Reply:most of the time getting a compliment on your feet is of course about getting your game on but then it could be a guy with a real foot fetish?? Anyway either or it is a little weird myself I would rather hear that I have beautiful eyes or an awesome smile... sorry
Reply:Well, it's funny...I wonder about that too. I find it wierd that chicks will do their toenails and pay for expensive shoes...and then complain about how much they hate feet.

Me though, I am not really like "normal" girls...I don't really do any of that....I'm what people call an "artistic spirit" so all that girly ga ga is just as foriegn to me as it is to you. If you find the REAL answer to this complexing question you should tell me because I am interested to hear why girls do the silly things they do....

Overall, my OPINION on the matter is that they are simply trying to fill an empty space with things...with money, etc. Girls, though they may not know it need love to fill that empty space...and those who do not get love will usually try to replace it with shopping sprees and things like that....

now, there are some cases where they aren't love deprived, but simply feel it's their "duty" to like those things, like a cutural thing in our society.

And though rare, some girls don't have either; love, or shopping o fullfill that empty spot. They are a little more aware of their situation and they don't want to cover up that lonely feeling with new shoes.

I know this is a long answer, but I feel opinions are longer than just straight answers.
Reply:What makes it wierd is that, we take it as being gay. I mean, a guy wouldn't normally notice what nail polish we have on, yet alone care. I'm not one of those girls who loves getting my nails done but i'm figuring most girls do like to ahve nice feet for their boyfriends or whatever or just to feel pretty.

Not all girls are like that though.Personally, if a staright guy complimented my feet, nails, whatever, i'd just laugh and say thanks, surprised you noticed.

Don't do it. I'm a Muslim and my parents/grandparents have told me never to touch a person feet or shoes. I find it nasty

What should i do if my boss ask me to polish his shoes.?
Next time he asks you to do that, spit on his shoes and wipe them with a paper from his desk.
Reply:Just tell him " Boss.. sometimes you are wrong ... but you are my boss .."
Reply:well, being a Muslim doesn't have to do anything with the subject. You could be anything, and if you deserve to do it you will do it no matter what you are. If your boss got the nerve to ask you to do that, he maybe know you will do it.....
Reply:It all depends on what type of job you were hired for. If you are a butler, then polishing shoes is part of the job. If you work in the housekeeping department at a hotel/motel, this is part of the job. But usually it is polishing the shoes of the customers.

Maybe it is time to stop working for this person and get a different job.

If you are living in the USA and you are not a butler or in housekeeping, you can report him to your city's employment services. They will contact him and let him know what he can and cannot do toward his employees. He will be mad at first, but will get over it.

If it were me, I'd find someone else to work for.

How do I clean nail polish off shoes without ruining the shoes?

My daughter spilled beige nail polish on my only pair of black patent leather shoes. I have a job interview tomorrow and need to get it off without ruining the shoes. I'm afraid that nail polish remover will ruining them. Can any one help?

How do I clean nail polish off shoes without ruining the shoes?
Hi

try to scrappe it off by placing some ice cube on it to make it harden

if not for a quick fix simply applied a black marker perm ink on the stain
Reply:I've tried nail polish, it works for me, especially getting out the black marks off a shiney shoe. It shouldn't mess up your shoe if its leather. But after you'll have to pass a wet rag on it so you wont be walking around smelling like nail polish.
Reply:get a wet rag and try to clean it off

What do you use to polish shoes with glossy finish? SUGGESTIONS?

Accidentally sprayed Bay Fresh on my stilettos with the glossy finish. I wiped it with a tissue with alcohol right away, only to find out that the air spray already removed the shine of the shoe. The shoe looks really weird now cos a rather big part of it is not glossy. What do I do with the shoe so that i can still use it? Like dye it, apply shoe shine on it, or something?

What do you use to polish shoes with glossy finish? SUGGESTIONS?
try this..... get two pieces of Cole and use mortar and passel to crush it...... then on the crushed Cole put baby oil or coconut oil..... but make sure that is on a equal parts ha....... then apply it on your shoe...... let it dry then wipe it off....
Reply:Check what caused the dullness. It could be

1. the spray deposit ,or

2. the alchohol removed some of the gloss coat.

If it's the spray deposit that caused it, removing it should bring back the shine. start with rubbing with something gentle, like body lotion or make up remover, if it fails, try nail polish remover (gently).

If the gloss coat had been removed by the alcohol, it's hard to be replaced. You can try to add shoe wax / shie shine (usually not useful if your shoe is originally high gloss), otherwise, remove the gloss on shoes totally so it doesn't look wierd.

Hope this helps.

Reply:Shoe Polish – Scrape up with a blunt knife. Use Dry Cleaning Solvent follwed by Detergent/Vinegar solution. Blot dry
Reply:ariel in hot water
Reply:if u just spilled it, then soak a wet towel in hot water, but make it quick. then quilky dab the towel on the carpet where the stain is, keeps dabbing and let the towel soak up the stain. (this always works if the stain was there for 1-45 minutes, it just doesn't come off as good) I dunno about this idea, but you can try using polish remover, smear it on the towel, then soak it up, or smear it around the stain. Or, u can go 2 Home Depot and Menards or Walgreens, or any of those stuff. and you can buy some magic carpet cleaner, and stuff like that.

Hope this helps!
Reply:brown bad and an iron. Put brown paper bag over polish mark and then use hot iron to pull up.
Reply:Best thing is white spirit. Sounds stupid but I'm a carpet fitter and this is what we use on the majority of bad stains and it normally works. Failing that a repair job would be in order if you have any spare carpet although if its a loop pile you will clearly see the repair.

Have you ever heard of shoe polishing machines?

Can it be a wise choice to invest in developing countries?how much does it cost to buy one?

Have you ever heard of shoe polishing machines?
Make sure they wear shoes in developing countries. (not a joke - do your market research carefully)

yes-there are such machines. They run on electricity. (that's something else you'll want to find out about.)
Reply:No, they have people to do that in developing countries and they cost a couple pennies a day.
Reply:It hardly costs anything to use one's hands.
Reply:those machines time has come and gone in my many travels I really haven't seen too many of them (only in the total ritzy areas)

and really not worth investing in.
Reply:It all depends on if they wear shoes.
Reply:I am old enough to remember when they came out in the US. It was kind of like the Segway. It got a lot of publicity when it first showed up on the market. However, nobody I knew ever bought one. It was about as much effort to get the damn thing out and set it up as it was to shine your shoes the old way. As far as developing countries. I can't see a mechanical device being a seller. Most people in developing countries are in the market for two things. Products that help with their real problems or products that mimic the first world. A shoe polishing machine is neither.
Reply:Yes, they are small appliances that have been around for awhile. I would not invest in such a venture. Not many people buy them here and I doubt that many in developing countries would be at all interested. Google it to see prices.

Help me match makeup and shoes and nail polish??

i have a red collared v-neck {kinda a deep scarlet color} with a black cami and peachy beaded cami layered underneath cause its really cold in school. i have a sky blue pair of jeans and a pink studded%26amp;striped belt. what shoes, nail polish, or makeup could i wear with this. i have brown shoulder length hair, brown eyes, and i am relatively short. thanks!

Help me match makeup and shoes and nail polish??
i think that you should wear black, white, or pink shoes. For nail polish I think that you should have a french manicure or if you don't want to go to a manicurist you should wear classic red for your toenails and pink nails. I think for makeup you should keep it simple because you have a lot going on.
Reply:first of all none of that matches, if your gonna wear all those colors get a belt thats black, red or peach. the shoes should be black or peach. the nail polish peach or red. makeup should be dark, that way itll bring out your eyes.lipstick or gloss should be pink or a peachy color
Reply:You could go with Red or black shoes it is always better to match the shoes to the top portion of your outfit. I would also go with a scarlet typ of nail polish or a peachy color if your cami is showing to bring out your cami.

Now your makeup is a little harder since I cannot see things like your skin tone. I would say go with either rosey colors not too heavy or earth tone colors you cannot go wrong kind of neutral.
Reply:red shoes, very natural makeup, and it does not matter what color you put in your nails, you don't have to match everything!
Reply:light pink nails and dark /black shoes. Match yr shoe color with one of your outfit. Eg black cami with black shoe.
Reply:2 start with...all those clothes r ugly; therefore, u should dump 'em or take 'em 2 goodwill...and go on a major shopping spree after.....and also, bring sum1 who has good fashion sense; it would be a shame to waste a lot of money on ugly sh**...

How can I remove wax polish from shoes?

I put some Cole Haan wax polish on my smooth leather shoes. The instructions state to let the polish dry, buff off with a brush, and then bring to a shine with a polishing rag. I cannot buff or polish off the wax polish. It is white and won't come off. I buff until my arm is sore. This isn't normal.

I assume that there is a mild solvent you could recommend that won't damage the shoes. Nail polish remover? Paint thinner?

I know this is an odd question, but does anyone know what type of car wax/polish is safe for use on skin?

Or Shoe polish/wax? And turtle wax? something that I can buy in a regular clothing store or something, thanks!

I know this is an odd question, but does anyone know what type of car wax/polish is safe for use on skin?
Obviously none of these are made for use on human skin, but usually dangerous chemicals have warnings on the back that say how they affect skin. If has any warnings like "Contact with skin: flush thoroughly with water" it can probably irritate the skin, so don't get it.

I don't know if this is for a prank or not, but if it is you might want to substitute an animal product like pam, crisco or whatnot.
Reply:Why would you want to use that stuff on skin? (o0)

I dunno never tried putting any of them on my skin.. Sry
Reply:What you are talking about is for shoes and it is called Lanolin. Lanolin is purified form of wool grease or wool wax (sometimes erroneously called wool fat), used either alone or with soft paraffin or lard or other fat as a base for ointments, emollients, skin foods, salves, superfatted soaps, and fur dressing.

How do I use the stuff in a shoe shine kit?

I was given it as a gift. I have only ever used cheap instant shine stuff. There's serveral brushes (one type is large, the other type smaller), a couple of round sponges, shoe polish and a cloth. What order should I use each product?

How do I use the stuff in a shoe shine kit?
-Big Brush the dirt and debris away

-Use the small brush to lightly apply the shoe polish

-Gently spread the polish out in a circular motion and cover the desired polishing area...Do not put too much on, you can always add, it's hard to take away

-Dust off the Big Brush (It's very soft bristled correct?)

-Use the Big Brush to buff in the polish

-Don't know about the sponges

-You only need the cloth if your trying to spit shine them

-You CAN use the cloth to buff but the brush makes a more even displacement of the polish
Reply:Anytime! Report It

Reply:Firstly use the hardest brush to take away any dirt, then use the cloth to spread a thin layer of polish on the shoe, then use the softest brush to buff up. Not sure what the sponges are for but guess you would use them damp if the dirt is mud and won't come off with the hard brush. Also the hardest brush can be used to brush the nap on Suede shoes.

I have had this happen. If its a rip with a piece hanging you can glue it back on.

If the color underneath shows through you may be able to paint it. On black shoes I have used a sharpie to fill in the color. If its white maybe you can use white out?

Good luck!

Reply:This is how you make it supershine:

1. I would not suggest KIWI. Better buy Broadway Shoe Polisher (paste... not liquid).

2. Make sure to remove any dust and particles on your shoes (I suggest that you was your shoes with small amount of water...)

3. Let it dry a bit.

4. Use any fabric to apply the polisher.

5. Let it dry.

6. Scrub your shoes with brush. ( I strongly suggest that you use shoe brushes maid from hair... not artificial plastic shoe brush)

7. Continue stroking till it was super shinny.

There, I hope I helped you.

I am interested in Shoe Polishes Making. Pls link me to any functional Websites for raw materials and Recipes.
Shoe polish is a mixture of pigments that provide color (for fixing scuffed places on the leather)and various oils and greases that make the leather soft and supple.Shoe polish is usually made from ingredients including naphtha, lanolin, wax (often Carnauba wax), gum arabic and (if required) a colourant. It has a specific gravity of 0.8, is negligibly soluble in water, and is made of between 65 and 77 percent volatiles. If I were making my own shoe polish,I'd start off with beeswax and neatsfoot oil, with perhaps a dab of oil-paint pigment in an appropriate color. Carnuba wax is another that's used, and this can often be found in floor wax and car wax as well.

Neutral Colour Shoe Polish

To make a neutral-colour, home-made shoe polish, you would need:

Soap flakes 30 g (1 oz)

Potassium carbonate 15 g (0.5 oz)(Obtain from chemist/pharmacist)

Beeswax 150 g (5oz)

Gum arabic powder 15 g (0.5 oz)

Icing sugar 45 g (1.5 oz)

Slice the beeswax and add to 568 ml (a pint) of water. Stir in the soap flakes and potassium carbonate. Boil until a smooth paste. Whilst the mixture is still hot (turn off the heat, but act quickly), add and stir the gum arabic powder and icing sugar. For a specifically black polish, 280 g (10 oz) of charcoal powder from the chemist may be added at this stage.

In recent history the black colour comes from an aniline dye. The next recipe indicates that nigrosene (generically, a black dye made from oxidised aniline) was domestically procurable in the 1940s.

Note that the above recipe uses potassium carbonate (potash) whereas the following recipe uses potassium bicarbonate, which is not potash. Imperial Measures are in brackets.

Black Shoe Polish

120 g (1/4 lb) beeswax

284 ml (1/2 pint) turpentine

22 g (3/4 oz) bicarbonate of potassium

30 g (1 oz) nigrosene

4.5 l (8 pints) boiling water

Melt wax in boiling water and stir in the potassium, using a large pot to allow for the mixture foaming up. Dissolve the nigrosene in a little cold water and stir it in thoroughly, bring to the boil, and simmer gently for some minutes, stirring it until it creams. Take mixture off the fire, and stir in the turpentine. Put away in small tins, tightly closed.

[ ... p194: ] N.B.- In following recipes which contain kerosene, methylated spirit, turpentine, petrol, benzine or any other inflammable ingredient, great care must be observed to avoid making preparation near a lighted stove or naked flame of any kind.

However, think about this: the owner of the car is going to have to take time to fix/clean the car, or spend money for someone else to do it, and the owner has to spend time earning the money. The owner's time is literally his life - he can't get any of that time back, and you can't give him any of yours. Whoever shoe-polished the car is slowly using up the owner's life a little at a time. Is that fair?
Reply:If it isn't it should be, doing anything to anybodys property is vandalism.
Reply:i would belive so but no "real" damage has been done so long as it washes off and does not effect the paint so it would depend what your definition of vandalism is if your definition is permanent damage done to something and if the car once it was cleaned and if it did not affect the paint in anyway since the damage was not permanent i would say it was not valdalism
Reply:yes it is...think about it, would you like some one defacing your car with shoe polish and wouldnt you like some justice.

Silly Q#3: Why do shoes shine when we polish them?

Ok, when you apply shoe polish, shoes become matt (!) first, and only when you've polished them with a brush, they become all shiny. Is it because of the molecules or what? :)))

Silly Q#3: Why do shoes shine when we polish them?
Leather has a rough surface, which casts shadows and light gets lost. The polish fills in these cracks and crevasses. The surface of the leather is evened out so that light reflects directly back from the surface and is not lost in the cracks, shadows, and crevasses.

Basically, Polishing with a brush gets rid of the excess and evens out the surface
Reply:It must be the light that makes them shine, cos they dont shine in the dark.
Reply:You are smoothing the surface of the shoe. Smooth surfaces are more reflective than rough surfaces. So when you polish a reflective material you get more of a reflection. It works the same way when you clean a mirror.
Reply:you do realize this is a paranormal section?
Reply:I don't know...What Peter said sounds right. You might like that site "How Stuff Works"...in case you don't know about it. Just google it.

EDIT...probably the same principle as when you wax a car...or polish silver.
Reply:it containes wax, mink oil and dyes..the mixture of these materials makes the shoe shine :)

How many people polish their shoes?

I remember when I was a kid in the 70's that my dad used to pay me to polish his shoes. It involved several steps, and I don't think people take the time to do that any more- or maybe I think that because I don't. Shoe polish doesn't seem to be in many stores like it used to be. I wonder if thats' because people go around with scuffy shoes, or do they throw them out as soon as they go out of fashion?

How many people polish their shoes?
If you go to a shop nowadays there are a number of products you just put on and they more or less shine for themself. Also there are buffer containing silicone which makes them shine.

There is nother better, more rewarding than a got polish. It is better for the leather, makes is waterresistant and increases the life expectancy of the shoe.

I have an hollister interivew tomorrow, what type of nail polish and shoe should I wear?
They like to keep things natural but any color is okay as long as it DOESN'T stand out or draw attention to your hands.

For shoes, I'd probably would just say some simple flip flops. It would be freezing cold outside with snow but most of us girls go to work in flip flops anyways because that's the Hollister look.
Reply:Don't wear nail polish. Either have your nails done, with a simple french manicure, but not too long. If not that, again no polish, but clean, buffed nails.

As far as shoes go, it depends on what you are wearing. Wear a pair of cute flats.
Reply:they like the natural look so id say no nail polish.

are you supposed to get dressed up for a hollister interview? if yes, then wear any shoes, like flats or heels. If not, hollister is all about flip flops.
Reply:Honestly, either a French manicure or clear coat. As far as shoe goes, anything that looks neat. No sandels, no ridiculously dressy heels. Some solid color flats would probably do alright.
Reply:French manicure or red.

Keep it classy.

And shoes, wedges work.

Because Hollister doesn't exactly represent high heels.

So still casual, ya get me?

I want to sell my car. What's the white solution I see so many people use on their windows? Is it shoe polish?

Just run down to Wal-Mart and get a can of fluorescent orange or yellow spray paint but don't limit yourself to the windshield because it will stand out much better if sprayed directly on the paint and because you are selling your car the new owner can deal with that their self.

Good luck

I want to sell my car. What's the white solution I see so many people use on their windows? Is it shoe polish?
well where I live it's plain white water based paint...
Reply:Here in the U.S., there is a product called NurseWhite. Nurses use it to keep their work shoes nice and white. It comes in an applicator bottle almost like a big magic marker, but instead of a pointed tip, it has a 1" square pad. It's available at many stores.
Reply:Most of the time it is shoe polish.

Goes on easy, comes off easy.
Reply:Hi, you can use white shoe polish but it tends to run and you need to do it twice to look good. There is similar product out there....Walmart or Autozone sells them......"Car Crayons". Similar in design, a big pen filled with a colored solution with a sponge applicator so you can write on the windows. Lots of people around here use all the colors (pink, green, yellow, etc.) to write their kids names or favorite sports team......"Go Panthers" or "Go Beavers"......just the names of a few local high school teams around here. I like the yellow car crayon the best....very bright and you only need to apply it once. But, if you can't find it, white shoe polish will work.....Good Luck!!

What is quality control all about?list steps of quality control in a production in a shoe polish factory?
Check the following link on Wikipedia.

The basic manufacturing process is explained on the page.

Use your own common sense to try and develop quality controls at various stages that have been indicated in the wikipedia link.

I am sure that there must some basic standards about the product specified by the authorities.

In India, we have the Bureau of Indian Standards that spells out the minimum parameters that are to be met by any product or service.

I am sure that the US has Underwriters Lab, or some other body that has specified the minimum quality standards. Get hold of the standards, and if it's difficult for you to specify the standards, then ask the shoe polish equipment manufacturer to define them for you.
Reply:Quality control in retail production is pretty standard. A quantity of samples is picked from each production batch a compared against the formula for the product and is test to see if its properties matches or is within a reasonible tollerence of the ideal form of the product, in the case of shoe polish, the color, thickness, texture etc.

Packaging and labeling are also inspected. It is assumed that if say 20 out of a batch of 10,000 picked at random fit the profile of the product then the remaining are acceptable to release to distribution.

I got some scuff marks on a black leather bag. How can I fix them? Would shoe polish work? Thank you?

Hi

Please do not use shoe polish as this will come off on your clothes and is the wrong product to use on bags and could ruin it.

The type of leather you have will determine what product to use. If you have an aniline style leather (one that absorbs moisture) then you only need to apply leather protector (not a conditioner) as this will remove the scratches successfully.

If you have a coated (pigment) leather then try Easy Colour which is a product easy to apply and will just bring the colour back and will not come off on your clothes.

If the scratches are very severe you will need to use a pigment colour with a finish over the top to seal it in.

I got some scuff marks on a black leather bag. How can I fix them? Would shoe polish work? Thank you?
If the surface of the leather has been abraided to the point where you have little flaps or splits in the very top layer(s) you will need something with some sort of sealant properties to be able to lay the flaps down and cover over the damaged area. If the scuffs are very minor you might be able to get away with a good quality leather conditioner; preferably one that has some protectant component. Other wise you will most likely need a leather finish to resolve the damage- depending on the type of leather this may involve applying a finish to an unfinished leather. I have black rub on that we use in our restoration kits, if you think it needs this you cand contact me at http://www.DIYLeatherSolutions.com
Reply:shoe polish will work, liquid type good.
Reply:Spit and polish.
Reply:They have little kits for that at a a leather store or even use just a black sharpy and fix it with that.

Im going to a miltary college next yr and hav to get a 'solid base' of shoe polish before i get there...how?

I don't think they mean knowlege in this case.

I think it means you need the solid shoe polish in the tin can, not the liquid with the sponge or the spray type.

Im going to a miltary college next yr and hav to get a 'solid base' of shoe polish before i get there...how?
Well Plebe there allot of good answers here so here is something another good bit of advice. Don't get pissed off when the upper-classmen tell you you did a piss poor job and throw your highly polished shoes, that you spent 6 hours shining, clear across the commons.

Good luck
Reply:buy the shoe shine in the can open it up, and pour a little water in the can top, and get a piece of sock, or cloth and slightly wet it, then dip it in the shoe shine, and start little circles on the toe and work your way down, lite dabs in the water and then back in the shoe polish until you start to see a shine..
Reply:Use lincoln wax, it comes in a black and yellow can. Angeles is good too.

Techniques to shining boots will vary widely from person to person. You may end up getting several responses as to how to do it, but most agree on the wax to use...

Polishing the boot...use the badder, the round brush, and put a smooth coat all over the boot, even the side of the soles. Use a BBQ lighter, on high flame, hols the boot up in the air and slightly melt the wax into the boot. Don't burn the boot, use just enough heat from the lighter to melt it, you'll see. Next, use the buffing brush, the long one and buff the whole boot. Do this about 3-4 times.

Now, use a cotton pad (not a ball) or an old cotton shirt, and apply a samll bit of wax using a circular motion, from the can. focus on one area at a time. First the toe, then the heel sides and back. You'll use light pressure and the a circular motion when rubbing the wax onto the boot. to get the boots in good shape, depending on the type of leather you have, it could take about 2-3 hours each boot. But after that each touch up will take only about 6-10 minutes. good luck
Reply:Go to Giant or any drugstore or supermarket and buy "KIWI" only.

Buy, black along with a can of neutral for a really nice topcoat. Go to the dollar store and buy some all cotton diapers, not disposable the real kind. Yes, they still make them.

Then follow the directions given by Tayda. Buy a permanent black magic marker for scuffs on gear and boots; also, you will need a lighter for any rappelling ropes hanging off of your uniform.

Good luck, don't ever give up at anything that you do!!! Remember a lot of others have gone before you and made it, what makes you any different.

Reply:start polishing now and good luck you`ll need it
Reply:KIWI and a section cut off from a white tee, and good ol spit. been there done that. dont use the fancy mirror polish stuff or anything that promises a cheap way out or quicker results. doesnt work as good and the instructors/teachers whatever will just throw it away anyway
Reply:a military college? you mean one of the military academies? and as far as getting a solid base of polish, you must be going to naval or air force academy, the best way to get a good solid base of polish is put a heavy coat of polish on the shoe, then place them in the oven to melt the wax in the polish, using either your spit or a small bowl of water put small amounts of moisture on the shoe, and then rub in small circles until you get a good shine.
Reply:just keep working on it man just like u would polish it dont use to much polish though thats a night mare lol i did that once
Reply:I am currently in the military. This is how...

1 strip ur boots with alcohol

2 buy a tin can of Kiwi, Black of course

3 get a cloth of some type

4 apply a base coat of kiwi, let boots sit for abt 5 min

5 dip ur cloth in water using ur two index fingers

6 apply dipped fingers onto boots moving in a circular motion, continue until it becomes shiny...periodically dip fingers in water and repeat until completely shiny..
Reply:Go to Walgreen's or Osco and buy some Kiwi shoe polish. If you don't have a shoe polish kit, buy one. You'll need to brush on shoe polish with the supplied horse-hair brushes. Then buff 'em with the buffing brush. Work it. Figure it out.

What's the best way to care for my new Doc Marten's? They apparently don't "like" conventional shoe polish.
Buy a leather conditioner. One I recommend is "Black Rock".

Wipe dirt or dust off your shoes then rub the "Black Rock" into the leather with your hands or a soft cloth. The leather will absorb the cream and you can buff them with a dry cloth.

If you get a scuff use cream polish in a matching color, but the conditioner is best. Think saddles, reins, etc...leather stays supple and will make your shoes last longer.
Reply:I'd go with wiping them over with a damp cloth, waiting until they are dry and then buffing them with one of those yellow furniture cloths, maybe even a squirt of Mr. Sheen furniture polish on the cloth to get some gleam. :-)
