Given all the shoes and toenail polish you girls buy, why is it creepy to compliment, mention your feet?

This is one of those ridiculous double standards a thinker like me has pondered. Girls love pedicures. They love shoes. They love doing each others nails... I think, right? That's what you girls do at sleepovers? And last time I checked they love compliments.

But if I ever dared to say hey, that shade of toenail polish really brings out your eyes (ok, not quite like that but you know what I'm saying), you'd probably get weirded out. You'd probably say something like "I hate feet" which I've heard girls say at least 26 times. And you'd probably tell your friends I'm a creep for noticing.

Am I wrong? And if I'm not, then what's all that effort for? That's probably one of the few compliments that hasn't been abused by guys working their "game".

Or is this another one of those things, like "oh, all girls love nice guys." Well that's cool but why are you dating that angry meathead then? (I have another question coming soon about that)

I'd love to hear your input, thanks.

Given all the shoes and toenail polish you girls buy, why is it creepy to compliment, mention your feet?
Well it always depends on the girl. I would take it as a compliment, I mean hey, all of us girls work so hard on our nails and toe nails (whether we do them ourselves or not) we still would like a compliment about it.

Personally I wouldn't get weirded out, but again, it all depends on the girl. And, as far as the other questions goes, I think that every girl loves a good guy, but every girl likes a bad guy sometimes.

Good guys are nice, sweet, and caring. While bad guys will bring out the adventurous side in us. So both can be nice, but it's hard to find both in a man.
Reply:I never thought of this before. Good observation!

Yeah, I think a lot of girls would think that you were somehow feet obsessed or gay or something.

I think that girls get pedicures and put on toenail polish more for themselves, to make themselves feel pretty, than they do it for men to be attracted to. That's the difference.

Fingernails are another matter. Girls do their fingernails for guys to get turned on by them. Not the same as why they do their toenails at all.
Reply:Haha. I wouldn't get weirded out if a guy gave me that compliment. I would think it was pretty funny and probably ask him why the weird question, but I would thank him all the same. It's just a cute (though, weird) compliment. A better one might be, "That nail polish really compliments your skin color."

My boyfriend has told me that my feet were "really sexy." I thought that was a nice compliment, because not alot of guys take the time out to look at your feet, when there's more (AHEM) interesting things to look at...

I asked him how could my FEET be sexy, and he was like, they just are. Haha. A compliment is a compliment. At least I know he likes my feet. =) Maybe I'll wear flip-flops more.

And all girls DON'T love nice guys. Some girls like bad guys. It depends on the girl. I, for one, do like nice guys...after two horrible, jerk boyfriends, the third time is a charm...he's the most wonderful guy I've ever met, and we plan on staying together forever.

Some girls date mean guys hoping that they'll have a change of heart and turn nice. They try to change them, not realizing that a person can only change if they want to change.
Reply:most of the time getting a compliment on your feet is of course about getting your game on but then it could be a guy with a real foot fetish?? Anyway either or it is a little weird myself I would rather hear that I have beautiful eyes or an awesome smile... sorry
Reply:Well, it's funny...I wonder about that too. I find it wierd that chicks will do their toenails and pay for expensive shoes...and then complain about how much they hate feet.

Me though, I am not really like "normal" girls...I don't really do any of that....I'm what people call an "artistic spirit" so all that girly ga ga is just as foriegn to me as it is to you. If you find the REAL answer to this complexing question you should tell me because I am interested to hear why girls do the silly things they do....

Overall, my OPINION on the matter is that they are simply trying to fill an empty space with things...with money, etc. Girls, though they may not know it need love to fill that empty space...and those who do not get love will usually try to replace it with shopping sprees and things like that....

now, there are some cases where they aren't love deprived, but simply feel it's their "duty" to like those things, like a cutural thing in our society.

And though rare, some girls don't have either; love, or shopping o fullfill that empty spot. They are a little more aware of their situation and they don't want to cover up that lonely feeling with new shoes.

I know this is a long answer, but I feel opinions are longer than just straight answers.
Reply:What makes it wierd is that, we take it as being gay. I mean, a guy wouldn't normally notice what nail polish we have on, yet alone care. I'm not one of those girls who loves getting my nails done but i'm figuring most girls do like to ahve nice feet for their boyfriends or whatever or just to feel pretty.

Not all girls are like that though.Personally, if a staright guy complimented my feet, nails, whatever, i'd just laugh and say thanks, surprised you noticed.
