Can you use shoe polish on a leather bridle?

I don't know why you'd want to do that. Just clean with saddle soap. If you're looking for a darker look you can oil it with neatsfoot oil, but don't do it too often or it will rot your stitching. You could also have the leather professionally dyed. Shoe polish will just rub off and you'll have a mess on your hands and on your horse!

Noooooooooooooooo. Use saddle soap to clean it and leather oil to soften it.
Reply:makes a big mess

saddle soap it-----if you want to change the color, use a good leather dye--other than that-saddle soap and mink oil
Reply:Yes, and it's called saddle soap...really that's the name!

......and it's colorless...and that's what is needed...no color!
Reply:Not unless you want the color you put on to rub off.

If you polish it will come off on things.

If you want a darker color take it to a shoe repair place and have them dye it for you. You can go darker.

Or clean it saddle soap and then conditioner.
Reply:Not a good idea. Use saddle soap to clean, then mink oil to keep soft. Buy in most supermarkets, tack or feed stores.
Reply:clean it with warm water first and then you can use shoe polish. or otherwise you´ll just have grain-type shoe polish.
Reply:NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! trust me i have done that before and it turned all chunky i would use a saddle soap or a lether polish. make sure you get a color close to the leather color (if it has color variations) you can go to any petssmart (state line tack is in petssmarts) or a tractor supply company.
